Road Map for pVigil

All good endings start with a good plan. If anyone is going to put faith in pVigil at this early stage of the game, it will only be because they believe it has a future. To deomonstrate that it does, here is the plan:

Alpha Stage: (Focus on the API)

0.1.x proof of concept. Demonstrate that this is a viable project with working code. Much of the API will have hardcoded configuration, however the basic software package will work.

0.2.x - 0.5.x Add features.

Beta Stage: (Focus on Stability and the User Interfaces)

0.6.x - 0.8.x Stabilize the API, make sure that all configuration information and data access code has been abstracted out to the correct place. Bring all the UIs up to snuff.

0.9.x Get the website looking and working good. Polish the UIs and make sure the API is ready for release.

Release:

1.0.x Production. All future versions should provide a clean, easy upgrade path. Adopt the Linux Kernel version styles where for 1.x: x = even means stable, x = odd means development.

1.1.x - 2.0.x Start adding greater priveledge separation and more finely grained user controls. Experiment with alternate user interfaces such as SOAP, xml-rpc, Instant Messenger, MS Office/Outlook integration, Palm Pilot.
